Bachelor of Science

The Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering Technology degree is designed to produce plant-level welding engineering technology graduates who are involved in the concept, design, and engineering of weldments and implementation of welding processes. The program provides several welding instructional areas including laboratories dedicated to inspection, mechanical testing, robotics, laser processing, resistance welding, and material preparation/fabrication in the newly renovated state-of-the-art Swan facility. This overall knowledge of weldments and the ability to engineer welding and joining systems produces graduates who are in great demand and highly compensated.

Program Outcomes

An ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined welding engineering technology problems appropriate to the discipline.
An ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined welding engineering technology problems appropriate to the discipline.
An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments.
An ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
An ability to function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.

The Welding Engineering Technology, BS degree is only open to students who meet the Transfer Student Admission Requirements below.
High school students interested in this program may apply to the Welding Technology, AAS program.

Must have completed an Associate of Applied Science degree in Welding Technology (or approved equivalent)
3.00 College GPA (on a 4.00 scale)

Completed EAET 201 , PHYS 211 , ETEC 140 and MATL 240 or equivalents

First Year Seminar Requirement (FSUS 100 or Equivalent) - Credit Required Met in Associate

University Graduation Requirements

These are the minimum graduation requirements for a bachelor’s degree at Ferris State University:

All requirements as specified in the University Requirements section must be met.
A minimum of 120 credits must be earned.
A 2.00 or higher cumulative Ferris State University GPA is required.
A minimum of 30 credits must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residency requirement.
A minimum of 40 credits of 300 level or higher courses must be earned.
