Automation, Manufacturing and Production (AMAP-CT), Certificate

This is an undergraduate certificate: Automation, Manufacturing & Production. The certificate will  consist of twelve credits of coursework. The degree certificate will provide education in Automation & Technology Management, Project Management Fundamentals, Lean Thinking Production Flow and Plant Layout, and Manufacturing Certification and Standardization. The certificate will be offered online.  

Program Outcomes


  • AMP graduates will have an ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
  • AMP graduates will have an ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadlydefined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
  • AMP graduates will have an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and nontechnical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
  • AMP graduates will have an ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
  • AMP graduates will have an ability to function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.

Admissions Requirements


New Student Admissions Requirements


  • Sophomore Standing 
  • 2.50 Overall GPA (on a 4.00 scale) 
  • Placement or completion ofENGL 150  
  • Placement or completion of MATH 115   or MATH 116   
  • Work experience 

Transfer Student Admissions Requirements


  • 48 Transferrable Credits 
  • 2.50 Overall GPA (on a 4.00 scale) 
  • Placement or completion of ENGL 150

Students who return to the university after an interrupted enrollment, not including summer semester, must normallymeet the requirements of the curriculum which are in effect at the time of their return, not the requirements which werein effect when they were originally admitted.

Graduation Requirements


In order to graduate from Ferris State University, students must meet both University and Programmatic Graduation Requirements.

University Graduation Requirements


These are the minimum graduation requirements for an undergraduate certificate at Ferris State University:

  • A GPA of 2.00 or higher must be achieved for the courses within the certificate.
  • A minimum of 6 credits within the certificate must be earned.
  • A minimum of 50 percent of certificate credits must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residencyrequirement.

Programmatic Graduation Requirements


These are the additional graduation requirements mandated by the program:
