EXSI 402 - Counseling and Behavior Change in Exercise Science


This course explores the psychological and behavioral aspects of promoting exercise and health behaviors. Students will gain a thorough understanding of key behavior change theories and models and learn how to apply these frameworks to real-world scenarios. Emphasis will be placed on developing effective communication and counseling skills, including active listening, empathy, motivational interviewing, and providing constructive feedback. Students will learn to guide clients in setting realistic goals, creating personalized action plans, and implementing evidence-based intervention strategies to facilitate positive behavior changes.Typically offered in Fall.
