EDSS 429 - Social Stds Mthds Fld Exp 3-6


This course provides elementary education students seeking the 3-6 grade band with a 20-hour placement in an elementary 3-6 education setting. During this course, students will work with a mentor teacher in the field to observe and implement high quality, social studies instruction. The course facilitates organizing for instruction, unit development, standards-based, classroom assessment models, and integrating cross-curricular content into inquiry-based mathematic instruction. Students will be provided numerous observations of instruction from both mentor teacher and university faculty to assist with growth and development of social studies instruction with concentration in the 3-6 grade band. Typically offered Fall, Spring.
