SCWK 491 - Internship Instruction I


This course is the first semester of two in the senior-year internship focused on the role of the generalist social worker. Students will complete a minimum of 480-hours in a concurrent internship placement (over two semesters) or in a block placement (in one semester, summer semester only) at an approved agency. Students are engaged in providing various levels of social work services aimed at demonstrating competency in areas required by the accrediting body (Council on Social Work Education). Learning outcomes are achieved by the demonstration of the nine interrelated social work competencies and component behaviors consisting of knowledge, values, skills, and cognitive and affective processes. This is the capstone course. Meets General Education requirements for Problem Solving and Collaboration. Typically Offered Fall, Spring, Summer
